My Teaching Philosophy

Each student learns in their own unique way, and it takes a patient, creative instructor to motivate and educate an entire class, whether it is populated by budding mathematicians or students trying to satisfy a general education requirement. The goal is to give them skills that they will use long after they graduate.

A professor’s role outside of class is just as important as in class: holding office hours, emailing students, and making personal connections. Math can be a difficult subject, so I am open, honest and respectful of student’s feelings and I am willing to do whatever it takes to help them succeed. Teaching is an extremely rewarding profession and it is my contribution to society.

Why I am at NU

I work at Northwood University because of the sense of community. The faculty and staff treat each other like family. We are there for one another personally and professionally and always willing to help each other out. I also like the small class sizes. It gives us a chance as professors to get to know our students and truly see how we are making a difference in someone’s life.
